Dear Boys and Girls, Minutes ago I received an email from my 74-year old aunt asking if I would be there for my mom’s 70th birthday. Be where? South America. Without a moment’s hesitation, I said yes. I admit, traveling on September 2nd through the 6th, just a week before my competition is far from ideal. I will also be going to a women’s leadership event on August 19-22, then to Washington D.C. for a BeachBody event August 2-29th. That’s a lot of time away from my kitchen, my trainer, and my routine. But I have to make it work. I will make it work. I’m as committed to all of these events as I am to my competition. Darn it, I will have my cake and eat it, too. What I put in my mouth is entirely up to me. Eating while at the women’s leadership in San Diego…Details
Dear Boys and Girls, Since I was away and unable to answer emails regarding Shakeology, I am extending my free book offer until Sunday, August 8th. Feel free to shoot me any questions to firstname.lastname@example.org or to leave comments here. 🙂 Thanks! Here’s to you. Barbie Decker, PhD SHAKEOLOGY GIFT INCENTIVE EXTENDED Most often when folks embark on their fitness or weight loss journey, it means that they are ready for change in other areas of their lives. I know that was the case for me. When I began my journey with Slim in 6 back in 2007, I knew I was done with the excuse making, the pity-partying, and the self-neglect. Self-development books have been a huge part of my success, in my fitness and all the other areas of my life. And no, I’m not saying I’m perfect! Far from it! But, somehow, little by little, reading books…Details
Dear Boys and Girls, I’m back from my four day vacation and I’m happy to report that I ate super duper clean in paradise. I was thinking how different this time was from a trip to Catalina Island, CA last year where I ate everything in sight with the justification that “I was on vacation.” I came back feeling heavy, bloated, and plain old gross. The thing is, when you eat gross, you feel gross…and yet, we have a tendency to continue on that path of stuffing ourselves despite the discomfort. My breakfast on Catalina Island last year consisted of pancakes, waffles, syrup, fruit, and sometimes even potatoes. One meal like that would have been okay, but then came lunch…then dinner…and drinks. Oh boy, by day two, I was no longer proud to be sporting my bikini. I felt like a potato on sticks (do you remember that post?).…Details
Dear Boys and Girls, Sometime last night I decided I wanted to be on a beach somewhere this weekend. Really, I thought, could I be that impulsive? Sure, why not! Let’s go! My only concern and hesitation about unplugging on a sandy beach, given my upcoming fitness competition, was FOOD. Really, does it have to be an obstacle? Only if I want it to be. Flight. Hotel. Dog care. All taken care of. At this time tomorrow I’ll be sipping…H2O on a sandy beach in some undisclosed location. How mysterious and fun, I know! So what did I have to do to prep? I woke up this morning and got to cooking! I seasoned four day’s worth of chicken with Mrs. Dash and some other saltless fun spices. I cooked it. Let it cool. Packed it up in zip lock bags. Froze it. I cooked four day’s worth of…Details

But, somehow, little by little, reading books about how I can become better, I have become better! I now truly believe I can create the life I want and I am doing it every day. The sky’s the limit! Truly! This may all sound very new-agey for some and that’s okay! I don’t care!…Details
Dear Boys and Girls, It’s 7:15 am and I just dropped off the last of my BeachBody house guests at the airport. Sunday evening is usually my time to get my head on straight again, write out my ToDo List for the week, and refocus on my fitness, business, and life goals. But, um, I made Hope miss her flight last night by losing track of time, or maybe I just subconsciously wanted her to stay a little longer. Nonetheless, I was beat from the weekend (in a good way); I’m not sure how much refocusing and goal setting I could have done last night. My point is that it’s Monday morning, the house is a mess, I need to clean it, and it’s time to get my head on straight NOW. Without a plan, we will flail. Believe it. Zig Ziglar said, “You cannot make it as a wandering…Details
Dear Boys and Girls, I’m sitting here after an incredible weekend of BeachBody fun and training, completely drained, but feeling happy about the direction of my life, and um, wondering what I’m going to blog about. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say. I do. I’m dying to tell you about the details of this weekend’s event, about how we all came together as a team, and how fun it was at the age of 36 to have a slumber party with members of my coaching team. Um, I never thought my loft could fit ten people. But, where there’s a will, there’s a way. In my mind’s eye, I had envisioned my coaching team doing what they had to do to get to this special event and I’m proud to say they showed up from all over Texas, Wisconsin, and Maryland. My biggest concern when traveling or…Details
Dear Boys and Girls, With only 7 weeks to go until my fitness competition, it’s time to tighten up my eating a little bit more. Actually, that’s not entirely true. Now that my metabolism seems to be on fire, I’m feeling hungry more often and really craving carbs. When I start to feel hungry like that, I always know it’s time to make a change. It’s not a question of will power. My body is asking for more food for fuel. With the help of trainer Tracy Nelson, who has lots of competition experience, I’m tweaking my diet as I go along. This past week, we’ve incorporated more carbs into my diet. Thannnnnk goodness, I say! I was getting ready to eat everything in sight. I now get to eat two rice cakes and a teaspoon of peanut butter as as a mid morning snack. Hip Hip Hurray!! Life feels…Details
Dear Boys and Girls, Tonight I read a post by Josh Spencer on his blog, www.Iwanttogetripped.com, on doing what you’re passionate about in life. Josh was one of the first coaches on my team and now one of the quickly rising super star BeachBody coaches. His post made me smile, smile because I remember the day (the moment, actually) he sent me his “fat before picture.” Who knew he’d get super ripped one day? Who knew he’d turn out to be a leader? I also smile because I remember when he sent me a flyer to proofread so he could promote his services with a financial services company he was working for. How very far we’ve come I think now. How things have changed, sort of, but not really. When Josh finished P90X, I remember telling him about Beachbody coach training. The guy’s heart and desire to help people were…Details
Dear Boys and Girls,
Please stand by for a bit as my blog gets a little facelift! I’m having links and some new pages/features added. I decided to ask someone to do these very techy things for me, so I could spend time doing things I’m actually good at and enjoy, like blogging itself!
It’ll just be a day or two more, but I will blog tomorrow, as scheduled.
