I was surprised by the number of emails and responses I received after my last two blog posts. Apparently, I am not the only one struggling with unexpected weight gain despite my best efforts to eat clean and exercise regularly. Certified Functional Nutritionist, Sagi Kalev, also the creator of the BodyBeast program, has been working with me to not only reveal the root causes of my health issues, but to come up with an action plan to get me back on the path of health and vibrancy. I am more than delighted to report that:
- I am pooping like a champ. Lol, I know this is too much information, but if you’ve ever had digestive issues, you’ll be happy to know that the solution could really be as simple as eliminating a few foods from your diet and taking a few supplements. Well, the testing that Sagi did (not sure if it was the saliva, poop, blood, or hair test that revealed it) pinpointed the foods that my body is sensitive and reactive to (notice I didn’t say allergic to). Never in a million years would I or could I have guessed that my body does not digest asparagus and sweet potatoes properly. Eating these very healthy foods, for my body in particular, can cause me to have indigestion problems as well as weight gain! Eek!
- I am sleeping like a princess, anywhere from 6 to 8 hours a night, with hardly any interruption. More importantly, it’s the first time in years that I have been waking up feeling fully rested. In the past, I had tried melatonin, passion flower extract, Sleepy Time Tea, Dream Water, you name it, to assist me in getting my z’s. But despite these aids, I would always wake up feeling pretty tired. I won’t share the combination of natural supplements I’m taking right now, as I don’t want my readers to self-prescribe. However, I will say that you should look deeper into what’s causing the insomnia instead of trying to deal with just the fact that you can’t sleep.
- My skin has cleared up and is visibly softer. Just two weeks ago I had acne on both my arms and upper chest. When I mentioned to Sagi that my skin had cleared up, he noted that our skin is a reflection of what’s happening on our insides. He said too many of us go to the doctor to have creams prescribed, trying to deal with the surface problem instead of tackling the root cause. Hm. I am starting to see a pattern here.
- My energy levels are up about 40 to 50% and my thinking is once again clear. While my energy levels are not up to what I feel they could be if my body were running optimally, the fact that I can already see a huge improvement here gives me so much hope. I actually find myself having to stop working because I’m just so excited to have a fully functioning brain again! It’s important, Sagi has advised me, to not overdo it. Doing too much too soon can cause my body to go into overdrive, causing me to crash and burn. I most definitely do not want that.
There it is. An update of where I am, just 2 to 3 weeks after having received my results. I am most definitely on the mend. In a few weeks, I should be back to me. I’m really not joking, my plan is to have a Welcome Back Barbie Party! You’re all invited!
One final note. I’ve received numerous emails asking me for the names of the tests that I underwent. When I mentioned this to Sagi, he responded that we really can’t isolate the body that way. You can’t just take a saliva test and expect to find the answer to whatever is ailing you. It’s important for you to speak to a qualified specialist who will treat the WHOLE of you and not just isolate an issue you may be having. You may contact Sagi Kalev directly on his website www.SagiKalev.com (he does Skype/phone consultations) or you can begin your search for a naturopath or Certified Nutrition Specialist. You can look at the various packages Sagi offers on his site and you’ll also find the names of tests he offers, if you’re really bent on knowing. But again, one size does not fit all. If you’re truly interested, I recommend setting up a consultation to determine what your particular needs are. I will also say that many alternative health professionals do not take medical insurance, but if your health issues are robbing you of your life and you have exhausted your options with the traditional medical route, you may want to ask yourself what’s it costing you not to invest in yourself.
Again, I’m truly thankful for my readers and for the comments and insights you provide. Knowing that my posts help others inspires me to share and to become a better version of me. Wishing you health and wealth,
